Identify every responsible party
A product liability matter may involve manufacturers, component suppliers, distributors, sellers, installers, and repairers. Record legal names, roles, addresses, insurers, and who controlled the activity or property.
Preserve the distinctive proof
Prioritize the unchanged product, packaging, warnings, serial data, recalls, and chain of custody. Keep originals and record who created, obtained, transferred, or changed each item.
First question to resolve
Was the issue manufacture, design, warning, installation, repair, or misuse?
Issues that may overlap
Check expert inspection, recalls, warranty theories, and evidence preservation. Then identify the state, court, notice rule, and limitation question before assuming the ordinary injury process applies.
